Bambusa Chungii – Barbelletta

Barbelletta bamboo is a beautiful ornamental bamboo featuring powdery blue/ white culms. Barbelletta bamboo will naturally grow up to 6 metres in height and can be easily trimmed down in height if need be. Barbelletta is the smaller version of ‘Chungii’ blue bamboo, and tends to have a prettier bushier foliage effect.

It has a natural vase shaped habit, with an almost bowl shaped base. The culms tend to grow outward on an angle before shooting up toward the sky. This makes for a nice feature clump, and tends to create a wider screening effect. The natural footprint size of the clump is 1.5mtrs but this can be reduced with planting closer together for a grove or screening. This wonderful species can be planted into narrower garden beds or maintained smaller to suit your needs, down to a minimum of 1mtr, but please note it is still a big bamboo and cannot be compared to the narrowness of a Gracilis screening bamboo for example. Plant as a single feature or a dense screening solution.

The approximate size of bamboo is only a guide. Plant measurements are taken from the bottom of the pot.

The sizing of plants does vary, particularly through different seasons of the year.

The most valuable part of the bamboo is the rootball size within the pots, which produces incredibly fast growth once planted.
