China Gold
Bold & Beautiful - OUT OF STOCK

Bambusa eutuldoides 'Viridi-Vittata'
- Another Aussie sympathiser, China Gold is a large ornamental bamboo featuring green and gold striped culms and bushy dark green foliage. This bold & beautiful specimen is a stunner and grows to 6-8 metres in height but is easily trimmed down to suit your particular circumstance. The species is also versatile in that it is one of the only ‘large’ bamboos that can be maintained in very narrow garden beds or even pots & troughs! Its presence in any Tassie garden creates a striking feature.
- China Gold’s culms grow upright with wide bushy green foliage that tops the plant as would an ice cream on a cone. Either a stand alone clump or a dense screen, its natural footprint is 2mtrs. It can however, be planted into narrow garden beds or maintained smaller – down to a minimum of 40cm – if required (root barrier necessary), or 75cm, in that size base. It is the only large colourful bamboo that would perform in this area.
- As is the norm when planting clumping Bamboo – plant them the same distance apart as the width you have available. Eg. if your planting trench is 1mtr wide, you would plant them 1mtr apart to form a dense screen. The narrower the space, the closer you plant the bamboo together.
- China Gold is extremely quick growing and can be almost fully grown within 24-36 months and reaching full size in 3-4 years (perhaps a little longer in Tassie). Quicker growth can be achieved by purchasing more established sizes! China Gold is low maintenance & extremely drought tolerant once established.

The approximate size of bamboo is only a guide. Plant measurements are taken from the bottom of the pot.
The sizing of plants does vary, particularly through different seasons of the year.
The most valuable part of the bamboo is the rootball size within the pots, which produces incredibly fast growth once planted.
