Fargesia ‘Nitida‘
Fargesia are compact, densely clump-forming evergreen bamboos with slender arching culms (canes) and several small branches at each node bearing copious narrow leaves. They are extremely cold tolerant and prefer a part to full shade aspect. That said, they will grow in full sun but don’t look very attractive in hot afternoons. Their leaves will shrivel until the sun disappears, then spring back to life with a cooling drink.
This Fargesia subspecies is a little slower to maturity than its cousin Fortune Bamboo but will provide you with a decent screen in 3-4yrs.
The approximate size of bamboo is only a guide. Plant measurements are taken from the bottom of the pot.
The sizing of plants does vary, particularly through different seasons of the year.
The most valuable part of the bamboo is the rootball size within the pots, which produces incredibly fast growth once planted.
